Rapper Gwamba was all smiles on Saturday as he celebrated his 15th anniversary in music during the Best of Gwamba Concert at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Fan lovers showed up for the concert, which lived up to its billing.
Patrons were treated to music vibes from both local and international acts.
Gwamba was, of course, the headliner.
The award-winning artist left no stone unturned at the concert as he performed with a choir backed by a band.
Performing with a choir has been Gwamba’s emblem at most of his live acts.
Saturday was no exception, as he preserved this style, with members of the audience visibly appreciating it.
The rapper took people on a voyage of his music ride as he performed a number of songs that had people singing along.
They included the recent track ‘Mukadalitsa’, in which he collaborated with Praise Umali.
Popularly known as The Landlord, Gwamba was full of praise for the massive audience that turned up at the concert.
The activity spilled over to the early hours of Sunday.
“Glory be to God for this massive turnout. The huge audience is a testimony of Malawi’s love for music and people’s support for local talent,” he said.
Gwamba, who has collaborated with local and international artists, said he was happy to share his music with others.
“This means more and 15 years is a milestone. I am honoured to share this with the fans,” the ‘Fumbi’ creator said.
Hosted by Blak Jak and Priscilla Nsane, the show also attracted South African acts such as Kamo Mphela and Focalistic, who jetted into the country on the same day of the concert.
Focalistic, who showed verve in his routine, applauded Gwamba for putting up what he described as a “great” concert.
In expressing thanks to Gwamba for the concert, the rapper, who rose to prominence after releasing the single ‘Ke Star’, invited the audience to turn on their phone lights.
Mphela, known for songs such as ‘Dalie’ and ‘Umhololo’, also gave out a top act and, backed by her dancing crew, engaged the audience at will.
The concert also featured an impressive lineup of local acts including Zeze Kingston, Emmie Deebo, Temwah, Charisma, Teddy Makadi, Malinga, Eli Njuchi, Lulu, Fada Moti and Saint.
