Stakeholders weigh in on shares by government

The Minority Shareholders Association of Listed Corporations has implored the government to make more shares of listed companies available for public purchase.

Harawa stressing a point.

This call comes as listed companies have released their half-year financial reports.

Speaking to MIJ Online Reverend Frank Harawa, Secretary General for the Minority Shareholders Association of Listed Corporations cited Sunbird Tourism as an example, where the government holds 71 percent of shares, limiting public ownership to 14 percent.

Harawa has since argued that the government needs to prioritize tax collection over retaining control, so as to address the shortage of shares available to the public.
