Cha-Cha vs. Tamia Jah:  Court dismisses restraining order, deletion application with costs

Cha-Cha’s court application for an injunction against Tamia Jah has been dismissed by the High Court of Malawi’s Principal Registry Civil Division in Blantyre.

According to the court document, the application aimed to restrain Hana Jabesi dubbed Tamia Jah from publishing defamatory content about Chawezi Banda (Cha-cha) and to delete existing content.

The court says Chacha failed to surrender her sworn statements provedureraly as the statement was delivered via WhatsApp.

Cha-Cha, whose real name is Chawezi Banda, filed the application against Tamia Jah due to allegedly defamatory posts on social media.

The High Court has dismissed Cha-Cha’s application, but the main defamation lawsuit remains active, with Cha-Cha seeking MK180 million in damages from the Lilongwe based social media influencer Tamia Jah.

Tamia Jah has refused to back down, dismissing the demand and accusing Cha-Cha of trying to intimidate her.

She’s also questioned the legitimacy of the MK180 million damages claim.

The drama started when Cha-Cha allegedly asked Tamia Jah to promote her on social media in exchange for a “blessing” financially, which Tamia Jah suspected was a scam which in turn escalated quickly, leading to the court case.
