Legends set for inaugural AGM

Football Legends Association (FLA) will hold its inaugural annual general meeting (AGM) on July 27, 2025 at a venue to be announced.

FLA Board Secretary Solomoni Gomezgani Mchawi made the announcement on Wednesday.

“This landmark event will convene esteemed former football players and stakeholders to deliberate on the association’s progress and chart the course for future initiatives aimed at promoting and safeguarding the welfare of Malawi’s football legends,” Mchawi said.

Meanwhile, Mchawi has said the association has reconstituted several standing committees as part of preparations for the meeting.

“These committees have been tasked with addressing specific areas critical to the association’s mission,” he said.

Former Flames defender and coach Young Chimodzi Snr is chairing the disciplinary committee whereas Justin Saidi is the chairperson for the technical and logistics committee.

Saidi is also the vice board chairperson.

Anthony Msendema and Victor Msowoya are chairperson for the finance and resource mobilisation committee, respectively.

The association has embarked on several initiatives this year. The activities include the selling of legends replica kits and introduction of medical cover for members.

FLA signed a partnership agreement with Medhealth for medical cover for its registered members.

The tailor-made scheme is worth K9 million for a period of one year.

So far, the association has secured medical cover for 55 members out of 130.

Currently, the legends body has a K40 million shortfall to reach out to 75 members who need medical cover.

The legends body is expected to host Bafana Bafana legends later this year.

Last year, the association hosted Zambian legends in Lilongwe.
