Civil get K50 million kit sponsorship deal

Civil Service United and Tree Business Suppliers Malawi Limited have signed a season-long K50 million kit sponsorship deal.

The kit sponsorship deal was unveiled at a Gala Awards Ceremony on Wednesday.

Through the agreement, the company will provide jerseys to all Civil teams, including men’s and women’s teams.

The company’s managing director Chindikani Nyirenda pledged to continue investing resources in the teams.

“We are proud to be part of the success of the Civil family. We believe that if we invest more [resources], the teams would perform better [than before],” Nyirenda said.

Civil and the local branding company entered into the partnership two years ago.

Since then, the company has been sponsoring the team.

At the event, Civil unveiled three kits ahead of the season.

Civil Vice Board Chairperson Elias Chimulambe hailed the company for supplementing the government’s efforts to develop sports.

“We are very happy with the partnership. We encourage other companies to support the team. We hope the players are also motivated to do well,” he said.

Chimulambe said the government would also provide adequate resources to the team.

“We noted that there were some challenges last year; so, we will make sure that the team has all the support it needs. We want Civil to challenge for the Super League title,” he said.

Civil Assistant Coach Wilson Chidati was optimistic of doing well.

“We have assembled a good squad capable of competing for silverware,” Chidati said.

At the event, Blessings Malinda was named player of the season whereas Charles Mafaiti was named the most improved player.

Righteous Banda won the most disciplined player award whereas Muhammad Biason was named the top goal scorer with six goals. Jessy Joseph was named player of the season in the women’s category whereas Annie Bazilio won the most improved player award.
