Seed Co boosts Presidential golf

By Martin Yewo Phiri:

Seed Co Malawi Limited has pumped K10 million into the third edition of the Presidential Charity Golf Initiative as one way of investing in the well-being of the Malawian community.

The company’s finance director, Tawanda Ncube, said the sponsorship is a continuation of their corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“For many years now, Seed Co has proudly supported golf development in Malawi, fostering a strong legacy of community engagement. Through partnerships with golf clubs, tournaments and initiatives, we have helped cultivate talent and grow the sport,” Ncube said.

He said Seed Co has been dedicated to fostering Malawi’s growth by supporting noble causes that contribute to community development, talent nurturing and economic empowerment.

“Our collaboration with the Presidential Charity Golf initiative exemplifies our devotion to the country’s progress and aligns perfectly with our company purpose: ‘Malawi is Our Home; Seed Co provides the basket that feeds the people; Our people’,” Ncube said.

Presidential Charity Golf Tournament Organising Committee representative, Cathy Matura, commended Seed Co for the good gesture.

“Last year, Seed Co supported the initiative with K5 million. This year they have gone up to K10 million in joining hands with President Lazarus Chakwera to change lives of needy tertiary students as well as communities affected by natural disasters. We therefore commend the company for its contribution,” Matura said.

Matura assured Seed Co and all sponsors that the funds will be put to good use.

“We will come back at the end of the project to fully account for the funds,” she said.

The Presidential Charity Golf initiative was introduced to assist needy university students and victims of natural disasters.

The tournament tees off Friday, with Chakwera expected to grace it Saturday.
