BACK IN TRAINING—Sambani

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets former captain Precious Sambani has returned to training after missing for two weeks due to unspecified reasons.

Sambani is said to have stopped reporting for training immediately after Bullets beat their archrivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 2-1 in an FDH Bank Cup round-of-16 match at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre three weeks ago.

Bullets interim Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga confirmed the development Wednesday.

“He started training on Tuesday,” Chigoga said in a brief response.

The former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers defender lost his captaincy to Gomezgani Chirwa.

We could, however, not get Sambani for his comment Wednesday.

Sambani missed two Bullets matches against Civil Service United in the FDH Bank Cup and Moyale Barracks in the TNM Super League due to unknown reasons.

At the time of stripping Sambani of Bullets’ captaincy, the team also announced the four-month suspension of striker Hassan Kajoke over indiscipline.

Meanwhile, Bullets new recruits Bongani Lungu and Lameck Gamphani will not be eligible for the first preliminary round of the Caf Champions League against Red Arrows this Sunday.

The two players joined the People’s Team after registration of players was already closed.

However, the two can be eligible to feature for Bullets in the inter-club competition if Bullets progress to the second preliminary round against TP Mazembe.

Bullets were eliminated in the second preliminary round after suffering a 5-0 loss on aggregate to Mazembe.

In the first preliminary round, they defeated Dragon FC from Equatorial Guinea.

In a related development, Bullets are sweating over the fitness of vice-captain Clyde Senanji, who was substituted in the second half in a goal-less stalemate with Moyale at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.
