Mzuzu City Hammers risk losing three key players after the club received offers, Times Sport has learnt.
The 2024 Castel Challenge Cup runners-up have confirmed receiving offers from top Super League teams interested in signing goalkeeper Chancy Mtete, defender Chikumbutso Henderson and winger Chimwemwe Chunga.
The three players were outstanding in the just-ended season, helping the Hammers finish fourth in the TNM Super League and reach the Castel Challenge Cup final.
Hammers Patron Gift Mkandawire confirmed receiving offers but declined to disclose the names of the interested clubs.
“We are happy that we are able to produce good players and that other clubs approach us. Currently, we have received offers for Mtete, Henderson and Chunga and discussions with the clubs are underway,” Mkandawire said.
Mkandawire added that the Hammers would not stand in the trio’s way, as it is their policy to give players a chance to play for bigger clubs, even outside the country.
This would not be the first time the Hammers have lost key players, as they sold midfielder Wongani Lungu to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets last season.
Holding midfielder Blessings Singini joined Mighty Mukuru Wanderers from Hammers and Silver Strikers signed forward Gift Chunga from the club.
Hammers lost to Wanderers 1-0 in the Castel Challenge Cup final in the just-ended season.
