Passion Centre donates vocational start-up tools to 14 graduated youths

A faith-based organisation, Passion Centre for the Children, has donated working tools to 14 youths who completed vocational training in tailoring, carpentry, and brick laying at the organisation’s school in Zomba district.

The six-month training program equips youths with the skills to establish their workshops.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Pastor Saul Mateyu, Executive Director of Passion Centre, advised the youths to utilise the tools to establish their businesses, creating jobs for themselves and others.

He emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship, given the scarcity of job opportunities in the country.

Pastor Mateyu revealed plans to increase the number of trainees and introduce additional vocational courses, such as new trades, to cater to more youths. Currently, the organisation offers tailoring, carpentry, and bricklaying courses.

Enock Chabwera, an official from the Youth Department at Zomba District Council, commended Passion Centre for imparting vocational skills to youths, aligning with Malawi’s 2063 agenda.

Chabwera, a Guest of honour at the function, encouraged the graduates to embark on businesses, emphasising the importance of honesty and trustworthiness.

Davie Ndala, one of the graduate students, thanked Passion Centre for the skills acquired, saying it would transform their lives and enable them to contribute to the country’s development.

Passion Centre has been providing vocational training to youths since 2023, having trained over 47 youths so far.
