Blantyre-based sports journalists were treated to a special event on Sunday when they watched the 2024 Uefa Euro final between Spain and England on DStv at RSVP, courtesy of MultiChoice Malawi.
The journalists enjoyed drinks and snacks while following the match, engaging in debates over the potential winner.
MultiChoice Malawi Communications Specialist Susan Mtegha stressed the importance of interacting with journalists in a relaxed setting.
“We organised this event to allow sports journalists to experience the final of this European football spectacle live while interacting with DStv and GOtv service providers.
“It is crucial to come together for fun and to exchange ideas on future collaborations. It was a fantastic night with valuable feedback,” Mtegha said.
Speaking on behalf of the journalists, Frank Kandu of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation described the occasion as memorable.
“It has been a wonderful experience. Having a great time with MultiChoice staff while watching such a big game is truly memorable,” Kandu said.
Spain clinched their fourth European title by defeating England 2-1 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.
Nico Williams opened the scoring for Spain in the 47th minute but substitute Cole Palmer equalised for England with a deft finish in the 73rd minute.
However, Mikel Oyarzabal secured victory for Spain with a goal four minutes from time, emulating their successes in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
