Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have enhanced their drive to register one million people after taking their ‘Nyerere’ membership registration exercise to the Central Region.
Wanderers took advantage of their TNM Super League match against Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos on Sunday to coax fans to register.
The team’s brands and marketing manager Greyson Chapita said the initiative is in partnership with insurance firm Smile Life.
“We started the exercise in the Southern Region and have seen a large number of fans scrambling to sign up as ‘Nyerere’ members, which is a testament of a passionate fan base that has made the Nomads become one of the most successful teams in Malawi, hence the need to have a database,” Chapita said.
He said supporters can select from various annual membership categories, including Nyerere Platinum, Nyerere Gold, Nyerere Silver, Nyerere Bronze and Nyerere Classic that come with benefits and a funeral cover policy from Smile Life.
Chapita said registration forms will be made available during most of Wanderers’ matches where the club and Smile Life would be erecting pavilions, with plans underway to start registering people online and at district and zone level.
Nomads National Supporters Committee Chairperson Mervin Nkunika asked Wanderers fans to register.
