Caution called as M-pox scare hits Malawi

An eminent health researcher has called for stringent measures aimed at containing the M-pox infection in Malawi.

The view comes in the wake of a confirmation by government on two suspected cases of the disease in Blantyre.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Dr Thomas Nyirenda, Head of Africa Office of EU-Africa Programme on Clinical Research believes that there must controls on issues like travel and social life.

He said among other things, people need to exercise caution which will also require sensitization.
