Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) will offer performance-based contracts to newly-appointed co-coaches for the Malawi National Netball Team.
Legends Peace Chawinga and Mary Waya were appointed as Queens co-coaches last week, taking over from Joana Kachilika.
Nam President Vitumbiko Gubuduza said offering the coaches performance-based contracts is a way of ensuring that they deliver.
“When we took over at Nam in June this year, we noted that coaches’ contracts lacked a number of things that would help further develop our game. We will now foster changes like performance measures for all our national teams. We will also look at the qualifications of our coaches as we work lost glory,” Gubuduza said. towards redeeming our
Gubuduza also said they would be tough on age cheating and encourage the new technical panel to instil mental discipline in the players who will be selected to the national team.
She said former Queens coach Edith Kaliati has been given the task of periodically monitoring the team’s training sessions and some matches.
“We want her to take up the role of advising our senior coaches on technical issues regarding the players,” Gubuduza said.
Chawinga said she would meet Waya to map the way forward.
