
Angitawo Band takes to the dance floor tonight to launch their debut album titled Pa Limana at Kwa Haraba Art Gallery in Blantyre.
The trio of lead singer Chisomo Menyani, guitarist Dannil Hussein and percussionist Kalonga Ndalama said yesterday that the launch of their 11-track album underlines their seriousness in music.
The group, according to the members, is here not to make up numbers but to show the world their talent and at the same time use it to disseminate important messages in order to bring about change.
“We are excited and looking forward to this day. It has been hard work putting together the music and we believe now is the time for people to sample, Ndalama said.
Last month, Angitawo released some songs namely ‘Msontho’ and ‘Upandu’ ahead of the album launch. “The response we have received so far is positive and we are motivated. We want to offer more and I can say it here that our strength as a band is the uniqueness of our music,” Menyani said.
In Pa Limana, Hussein said they are taking time to give advice to fellow young people venturing into the world to tread carefully and at the same time be focused.
“Music is a powerful tool used for giving advice and this is what we have done in this album,” he said. Supported by players such as Ian Thomson, the group has indicated that apart from treating people to a live performance
