Lilongwe-based acapella group, The Harps, on Sunday capped their 10th anniversary streak by launching their second album titled Kwa Ife Ayi at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC).
It was all merrymaking time for the gospel music outfit as it celebrated the 10th anniversary and at the same time underline their prowess in ministering the word of God to the world.
The double celebration of the 10th anniversary and second album launch drew an impressive audience that included politician and UTM presidential hopeful Dalitso Kabambe, who was the guest of honour.
The group dished out a number of songs that excited the audience.
The 10-track album which adds to their debut collection titled Taomboledwa, is wrapped with songs such as ‘Nkhondo’, ‘Yerusalem’ and ‘Ponong’oneza.’
The Harps’ chairperson Owen Nkoka said the main message in Kwa Ife Ayi is all about glorifying the name of the Lord.
“It is not unto us Lord but all the praise and honour should be unto You because we understand that all the blessings is because of Your mercy.
“That is why we are saying, not unto us. We should not claim the glory. The glory should be to God,” Nkoka said.
He described the past 10 years as challenging but thanked God for taking them through the hard times.
“This is huge for us; we did not expect all these people to come. BICC is a big auditorium but we thank God that we have managed to fill it to capacity,” Nkoka said.
Kabambe, who bought the copy of the album at K1 million hailed The Harps for putting up a good concert.
“I had to be part of this concert and I have enjoyed it to the fullest. I have been blessed,” he said.
Kabambe then suggested that the group should strive to incorporate some of their songs into hymns.
“Most of the hymns were done long time ago and, so, we need fresh songs,” he said.
The concert also saw the presence of The Redeemed Family from Zimbabwe and Sovereign Chords from Zambia.
