Reigning TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers will restructure their board after some of the directors have served a maximum of two terms.
Times Sport has established that two directors, namely Willard Chakanika and Edwin Mpeni, served a maximum of two terms of three years each.
Their term of office expired on February 15 2025.
Silver Board Chairperson George Kaudza-Masina could neither deny nor confirm the development Wednesday.
“I will comment on the issue at an appropriate time,” Masina said.
But Chakanika confirmed that his mandate expired last week.
“It was an honour to serve as director for six years. We had ups and downs but I am leaving a happy person after the team won the TNM Super League last season. It is time to leave the stage,” Chakanika, who was also spokesperson for the board, said.
Mpeni was not readily available for a comment.
The club is also expected to hire two more directors, replacing Daudi Mtanthiko and Chiyambi Mataya.
Mtanthiko ceased to be a director after he was elected Football Association of Malawi (Fam) executive committee member in December 2023 whereas Chiyambi reportedly resigned due to work commitments.
Meanwhile, Kaudza- Masina is expected to be retained as chairperson.
George Chiusiwa, who is also chairperson for the Silver technical committee, has served as director for four years, which means he is eligible to be retained.
Other directors of the board include Chrispin Sibande, Lameck Chinula, Mirriam Zulu and company secretary Peter Masiye.
Silver are expected to take part in the 2025 Caf Champions League after winning the TNM Super League title.
