Technical, Entrepreneurial, and Vocational Education and Training Authority (Teveta) has taken a proactive step in empowering young people through agribusiness.

Teveta Director of Training Programmes Modesto Gomani said the authority had launched a comprehensive training initiative focused on beekeeping and honey production to equip rural youths with the necessary skills to establish sustainable enterprises, contributing to job creation and economic growth.

Speaking at the launch in Thyolo District, Gomani emphasised the importance of collective efforts among young entrepreneurs.

“By focusing on agribusiness, the authority aims to address youth unemployment while promoting value addition in agricultural production,” he said.

Deputy Director of Youth in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Deus Lupenga said the additional skills would enable young people to diversify their income streams and unlock their full potential.

“By learning to produce products like honey, yogurt, and butter, the youth can generate sustainable incomes and improve their livelihoods,” Lupenga said.

Traditional Authority Kapichi welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential to transform the lives of young people in his area.

Thangazi Youth Club chairperson Joyce Setani described the training as a game-changer for the group.

“Many of us have struggled to find jobs, but with this training, we now have a chance to create our own employment. Beekeeping is a profitable venture and with the support we are receiving, we are determined to make it a success,” she said.
