FCB Nyasa Big Bullets President Konrad Buckle has expressed optimism that the People’s Team will return stronger and better next season after the side failed to match their 2023 season exploits in the just-ended season.
Out of four trophies which they won last season, Bullets finished the 2024 season with the Airtel Top 8 trophy only.
This is because they failed to defend TNM Super League, FDH Bank Cup and Castel Challenge Cup titles.
Speaking at the team’s Red Carpet event in Blantyre on Monday night, Buckle reflected on the challenges faced in the past season.
He was quick to express confidence in prospects of the club’s resurgence.
“It [2024] has been a tough year but let me promise you that in 2025 we will be back and be number one. Life is a journey… you cannot always be at the top, but it is how you stand that makes you a champion for the future,” he said.
Buckle said Bullets had a robust and dynamic board, which was working tirelessly to reclaim glory.
Adding to the excitement of the night, the club unveiled its 2025 season home and away kits, which feature a sleek and modern design.
First Capital Bank (FCB) Head of Marketing Twikale Chirwa revealed that the bank had invested K10 million in the event.
He also announced plans to launch replica jerseys for children, ensuring that supporters of all ages could be wearing the team’s colours.
Event organisers also honoured fans, including Martin ‘Chicharito’ Josiya, MacMillan Mpinganjira, Ganizani Khumbanyiwa and long-serving supporter Isaac White.
The glamorous ceremony brought together players, management, fans and stakeholders in a show of unity and pride in the team.
Defender Nixon Nyasulu emerged as the star of the evening, claiming the player of the season award for his stellar performances over 35 matches.
Nyasulu, who also netted one goal and provided one assist, was further recognised with the best defender accolade.
In other categories, Richard Chimbamba was named best goalkeeper of the 2024 season after an outstanding campaign where he played 25 matches and recorded 13 clean sheets.
Lloyd Aaron was given the best midfielder award for his consistent form across 39 appearances while Babatunde Adepoju claimed the best striker title, having scored 13 goals in as many matches.
Rising talent Chikumbutso Salima was acknowledged as the most improved player, a testament to his growth and increasing influence on the field.
Buckle presented a special award to the team’s captain Gomezgani Chirwa, commending his exemplary contribution to the team.
“For leading the team and being exemplary, I say congratulations,” Buckle said.
The Bullets president also took the opportunity to praise coach Kalisto Pasuwa for his exceptional role in guiding the team.
