Miss Culture Malawi Ireen Navicha is set to represent the country at the Miss Teen Universe in South Africa.
Navicha, who recently was crowned First Princess during the Miss Culture Global, leaves the country on October 31 2024.
She is expected to spend 10 days to prepare for the contest which is expected to bring on board 50 contestants from around the would.
Navicha, who is a second year student, studying Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices at Malawi University of Science and Technology (Must) in Thyolo, said on Wednesday she wants to make up for missing the Miss Culture Global crown and win the Miss Teen Universe.
“I am looking forward to represent Malawi at the Miss Teen Universe contest. My goal is to put Malawi on the map and I am working hard to achieve that,” she said.
Navicha said through her participation she hopes that Malawi’s rich cultural heritage will be exhibited.
She has since called upon people to support her by voting to increase her chances of winning.
“People should vote because this is what will also increase my chances of doing well,” Navicha said.
Commenting on Navicha’s prospects, Miss Culture Malawi National Director Zahir Elias hailed Navicha for her growth and determination.
“We are proud of her and we hope she will do well. She needs support and Malawians should take time to vote,” Elias said.
Miss Teen Universe is an international pageant for 14-19 year olds, showcasing talents , intelligence and beauty, providing a global platform for young women to represent their countries.
