The president of the Alliance for Democracy, Enock Chihana, has criticized the growing corruption in the country, calling it a ‘cancer’ that is hindering national progress.
Chihana accused the current leadership of being more focused on self-interest rather than serving the people, warning that this trend cannot continue.
He further added that with various political parties uniting, they are preparing to take over the government.
Chihana also said that after more than 50 years of independence, Malawi must move away from its heavy reliance on foreign donors.
He later apologized to Malawians for involving them in the Tonse Alliance, which is led by the current Malawi Congress Party.
