TNM Super League defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have resolved to restructure their technical panel in a bid to improve the team’s fortunes this season.
The changes will see Reserve Team Coach Enos Chatama promoted to the senior team as assistant to coach Kalisto Pasuwa, who is under intense pressure due to the team’s worst start to a season in six years.
Times Sport has established that Chatama will replace former Zimbabwe National Football Team technical director Michael Ngore, who currently serves as Pasuwa’s assistant.
This means Ngore will revert to his role as performance analyst.
Bullets interim Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga could not be reached for a comment yesterday despite repeated attempts to contact him.
Despite winning a quadruple last season, Bullets have failed to replicate last year’s form under the Zimbabwean, whose contract expires next year.
Internal sources at Bullets suggest that Chatama is a leading candidate to join Pasuwa’s senior team backroom staff.
“The club has discussed the matter of Chatama internally. The decision now rests with Chatama to accept the role of Pasuwa’s assistant. However, his credentials are highly regarded,” a source who spoke on strict condition of anonymity said.
Chatama has also been linked with a coaching role at newcomers Creck Sporting Club.
However, Chatama claimed ignorance on such developments.
“I have no information on this matter. I only came across it on social media,” Chatama said.
In another development, Bullets have suspended striker Hassan Kajoke for a period of four months.
Bullets confirmed the suspension in a statement.
“The club further confirms that Hassan Kajoke has been suspended for four months on disciplinary grounds. Bullets will not comment further on this statement,” the statement reads.
Efforts to reach Kajoke for a comment yesterday were unsuccessful.
He courted controversy last year when he signed a contract with Silver Strikers while still under contract with Bullets.
He was subsequently ordered to repay K3.9 million.
In 2021, he was also suspended for leaving the Flames camp without authorisation.
In another twist, Bullets have appointed defender Gomezgani Chirwa as the new captain, replacing fellow defender Precious Sambani.
Kenyan defender Clyde Senanji has been appointed vice captain.
However, Bullets did not disclose the reasons behind the restructuring.
The club has experienced turbulence both on and off the pitch since the beginning of the season.
On the field, they have managed only four victories, eight draws and two losses in the TNM Super League this season.
The team is currently fifth on the 16-team table with 20 points from 14 matches, trailing leaders Silver Strikers by 16 points.
Bullets also lag five points behind their rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
