Chibuku Products Limited has donated 10 sewing machines worth 3.5 million Kwacha to a Blantyre based vocational training school called Tikonze Apapa.
The donation is has been made so as to empower deaf students by providing them with valuable skills that can enhance their livelihoods and foster independence.
According to Chibuku Products Limited Managing Director of, Gerald Bowler said they have for so long believed in giving back to the communities.
‘’ We have been impressed with the work they [Tikonze Apapa] do and we saw it fit to equip the talented individuals with the tools they need to thrive in life. The machines will allow students to engage in practical training, learn tailoring skills, and explore potential entrepreneurial avenues. This initiative will not only enhance their skill sets but also boost their confidence and self-esteem,” Bowler he said.
He also said there is need to create an environment where people with disabilities have the same opportunities as anyone else.
Gratitude was all over the face of Katiana Lafrance, Executive Director of Tikonze Apapa, remarked who said Chibuku has made a landmark donation which will advance their lessons.
She said: ‘’we are very grateful to Chibuku. They have supported our quest to breaking down barriers and empowering the deaf community to reach their full potential,’’.
