The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has emphasized the need to join efforts aimed at eradicating human trafficking in Malawi.
This appeal comes as the world marked the annual World Day Against Trafficking, with a focus on protecting children from this scourge.
Under the theme “Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking,” IOM organized a session for student teachers at Lilongwe Teachers Training College to educate them on the vital role they play in ensuring the safety of children.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Walter Kasempa, IOM’s Youth Migration Ambassador, stressed that concerted efforts are crucial to combat human trafficking in the country.
Kasempa highlighted the significance of the session, as the student teachers will soon be responsible for the safety and well-being of children in Malawi.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah Mpaso, Deputy Director for Child Rights at the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC), commended IOM for its dedication to ending human trafficking cases in the country.
