All set for Airtel Top 8

The 2025 edition of the Airtel Top 8 competition rolls into life as holders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets host Creck Sporting Club in the quarterfinals first leg at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre Saturday.

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Marketing and Broadcasting Manager Tulipo Mwenelupembe said all was set for the official opening match.

“We are ready to kick off the 2025 Airtel Top 8. Due to the timeframe, we will not hold the kit-unveiling ceremony as has been the case before,” Mwenelupembe said.

The stakes are high in this match.

Bullets have a spring in their step following an impressive start to the season after registering a 1-0 victory over Silver Strikers in the TNM Super League.

On the other hand, Creck will go into the match seeking redemption after suffering a 1-4 loss to Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos.

Bullets coach Peter Mponda was not available for a comment Thursday but Kamwendo said players were ready for the clash.

“We are facing a team that has more experience than us but the players are prepared for the match,” he said.

In another quarterfinal match, 2022 winners Mighty Wanderers will host Karonga United at the same venue on Saturday, April 19, before Mzuzu City Hammers and Civil Service United face off at Mzuzu Stadium in Mzuzu City on April 20.

The quarterfinals first leg match will be concluded on April 21 as Silver Strikers will host Moyale Barracks.

In the second leg, Karonga will host Wanderers at Karonga Stadium on April 26 whereas Creck will host Bullets at a venue to be announced.

On May 17, Moyale will host Silver at Mzuzu Stadium whereas Civil will host Hammers on May 18 at a venue to be announced.

The semi-final matches are scheduled for June 28 and 29, with the final slated for July 12.
