
African Herbal Mixture (AHM) has reaffirmed its support for the K20 million ‘Zama Natural’ Blantyre District Youth Football Committee (BDYFC) Under-19 Cup.
The company’s operations manager Rashina Chikalipo said they were determined to continue bankrolling the competition.
Chikalipo said AHM was thrilled with products the league had unearthed since the competition started in 2023.
“We would like to continue supporting this cup because it is identifying and nurturing future players.
“Last year, we had a lot of players from this league who were part of the Malawi Under-20 National Football Team, which won gold medals during the Tri-Nation tournament,” she said.
Her remarks were in reference to the likes of Kondwani Tebulo, Francis Malikebu, Misheck Biliati, Oscar Petulo, Madalitso Safuli, Zaneer Jussab, Precious Kwalenga, Daniel Kudonto, Chifuniro Kamenya, Wallace Adam, Steve Palemeza Jr, Precious Kwalenga, Daniel Kudonto, Haji James, Blessings Mofolo and Matamando Machipisa.
“Some of these youngsters featured for the junior Flames and went on to win the championship whereas others have signed for Super League teams,” she said.
Chikalipo urged the committee to continue managing the competition professionally to hook AHM for continued support.
BDYFC Chairperson Bitto Kayesera commended AHM for their support.
“We will do anything to safeguard this sponsorship. The impact of this cup cannot be overlooked.
“On our part, we promise to continue managing the cup professionally,” Kayesera said.
Football Association of Malawi Technical Support Manager James Sangala hailed AHM for sponsoring the cup and asked other organisations to emulate the gesture.
“The cup is helping the association in developing players. It is our wish that other companies should follow suit,” Sangala said.
During the launch, champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Youth were drawn in group B alongside Ntopwa FC, Ekhaya Youth and Airsport United whereas Agumbala FC, Nyambadwe United and Lyzee United are in group A.
Group C comprises Mighty Wanderers Youth, Young Stars, Soche Madrid and Yizo-Yizo Warriors whereas Griffin Young Stars, CC Stars, Manchester Motor Spares FC and Extending Hope are in group D.
