Precious Sambani ready for new challenge

Silver Strikers new defender Precious Sambani is relishing the new challenge ahead of the forthcoming season.

Sambani said Tuesday, after signing a two-year contract with the reigning TNM Super League champions, that he wanted to deliver the goods.

“I am very excited to join the club. When I heard that Silver were looking for my services, I was very happy. This is a new challenge for me as I want to help them defend the league title,” Sambani said.

The on-and-off Flames left-back was unveiled at Silver Club House in Area 47, Lilongwe, Tuesday.

He has joined Silver as a free agent after leaving FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on mutual agreement after he went Absent Without Leave (AWOL) twice last season.

Sambani is the fourth player to join Silver in the ongoing player transfer window after striker Samuel Adeyemi from Mzuzu City Hammers, Festus Duwe from Ascent Soccer and Felix Demakude as a free agent.

Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba said the acquisition would bring stiff competition to the team.

“The forthcoming season will be long. We are looking at squad depth. It is not about numbers but quality. As such, Sambani will bring something new due to his experience,” he said.

Sambani will compete for a starting role with youngster Dan Sandukira.

Another left-back, Tatenda M’balaka, is expected to miss the entire 2025 season due to injury.

Meanwhile, defender Mark Fodya has left Silver following the expiry of his contract.

Fodya, who won four trophies with Silver, has been linked with Creck Sporting Club.
