Mighty Mukuru Wanderers commercialisation drive has received a major boost after securing a K100 million one-year long kit deal from
2025 888bets Malawi.
The partnership was unveiled at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre on Sunday night, signifying a new dawn following the team’s new tagline ‘making Mighty Mighty again.’
Following the partnership, 888bets will be responsible for all Wanderers teams jersey branding where the sponsors logo will appear.
This includes Wanderers senior team, reserve side, youth and women’s football teams.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony 888bets Malawi Country Manager Clement Kwesi said they settled for the 2024 Castel Challenge Cup winners because they are the top team.
“This partnership is about investing in the passion and talent that make football such a powerful force in Malawi. We chose Wanderers because it is a symbol of unity, pride, and excellence, and we could not think of a better partner to help us take this journey forward.
“Furthermore, Wanderers’ legacy and loyalty of their fans speak volumes. They represent the same values we believe in—hard work, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of success,” Kwesi, who was flanked by the firm’s marketing manager Grace Mandevu, said.
Kwesi said they believe the shirt sponsorship would motivate the players’ winning mentality and also help the firm reach the masses.
On his part Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi said they were overjoyed to partner 888bets.
“At Wanderers, we firmly believe in the power of partnerships to drive progress. Together with 888Bets, a brand that shares our passion for excellence, we are setting the stage for a brighter future.
“This partnership is not just a business transaction; it is a strategic alliance rooted in mutual trust, shared goals, and an unwavering commitment to growth and success,” he said.
Ndovi said the package would inspire the team to continue with its revival.
“This investment is a testament to 888bets’ confidence in our club and their belief in the Wanderers spirit. It is an injection of energy and resources that will empower us to compete at the highest levels, both on and off the field,” he said.
Wanderers directors Chancy Gondwe, Limbani Magomero, Christ Gondwe, Tiya Somba- Banda and Andrex Kalinden graced the occasion whereas the team’s supporter of the year Nelson ‘Bwede’ Zakeyu and his subordinates Yona ‘Green’ Malunga and Herbert Mlaka were cheering gracefully.
Some of the key players who attended the event were Isaac ‘Chair’ Kaliati, Stanley Sanudi and Felix Zulu.
Musician Noel Chikoleka, well known as Phyzix, who is also 888bets ambassador, performed at the event.
