The sponsorship package for the 2025 TNM Super League will be maintained at K500 million, TNM plc has disclosed.
TNM Marketing Director Sobhuza Ngwenya made the announcement during a press conference in Lilongwe on Monday.
He was updating journalists on the long-awaited 2024 TNM Super League Prize Presentation Ceremony, which is scheduled for this Friday Lilongwe.
Ngwenya said the sponsorship had been maintained at K500 million due to several reasons, including economic hardships.
“We know that the cost of living is high in the country. We increased the sponsorship to K500 million last year and, as such, we believe the amount will continue to make a significant impact on Malawi football,” Ngwenya said.
TNM increased the sponsorship package to K500 million from K150 million before the start of the 2024 season.
The company and the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) signed a three-year contract which will
expire next year. TNM has been sponsoring the league for 17 years and the 2025 season will mark 18 years of sponsorship. Meanwhile, Ngwenya said all is set for the 2024 TNM Super League Prize Presentation ceremony this coming Friday. “Sport is, indeed, a unifying factor in our country,” Ngwenya said. The league is expected to kick off on April 5 as champions Silver Strikers will face FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe. On his part, Sulom Vice President Ronald Chiwaula said the league governing body is looking forward to the 2025 season. “Sulom is committed to working with TNM on the use of Mpamba card as there is accountability on revenue made to prevent leakages,” Chiwaula said. Champions Silver will pocket K100 million whereas runners-up Wanderers will get K50 million. TNM is also expected to award outstanding individuals, including players and coaches.
