Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) League Premier Division sponsor Rab Processors Limited Tuesday stormed different parts of Blantyre City and surrounding areas to help create awareness about the close of the 2024 Thumbs Up season.
The season officially ends this afternoon with a match between champions Ekhaya United and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
Ekhaya lifted the title on Thursday last week after beating Nyambadwe United 2-0 to cruise to an unassailable 31 points from 13 matches.
The crunching tie between Bullets Reserve and Ekhaya is the only match lined up for today with the rest of the teams in the regional league’s top eight having concluded their assignments Tuesday.
Sponsor Rab Processors Limited Communications Manager, Andrew Lulker, said they want to see a capacity crowd at Mpira this afternoon.
“We want as many people as possible to come and cheer for the two teams as they conclude the 2024 season. It has been a season full of fun and we want it to finish on a high note. Bullets Reserve and Ekhaya are among the teams that performed very well in the season and we are expecting them to give out their best.
“So we organised a fan track that went around various townships within Blantyre and other areas outside the city to let people know that there will be this big match. We just wanted to make sure that everyone knows about it. In the course of bringing about this awareness, we were also giving out various items,” Lulker said.
SRFA Vice General Secretary Kingsley Simbeye said they will present the trophy to Ekhaya after the match, with the date and venue of the prize presentation to be announced later.
Ekhaya won the championship in their debut season after registering a similar achievement in Division One in the 2023 season.
Their reward for becoming regional champions is an automatic place in the 2025 TNM Super League.
