Youths from the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) have joined fellow youths in Malawi in calling for action to mitigate climate change effects.
Over 100 youths lamented climate change’s effects during a dialogue, themed ‘Building Resilience: Youth Engagement, Adaptation, and Innovation in the Face of Climate Change within the Sadc Region’, in Lilongwe on Saturday.
The dialogue was aimed at addressing the pressing issue of climate change and its effects on the Sadc region.
Speaking during the dialogue, Lead Ambassador for the Malawi Creation Care Network Yamikani Chiphazi said there is a need for collaboration on the issue.
“Let’s rise and say no to environmental degradation,” Chiphazi said.
One of the speakers at the dialogue, Edgar Silwimba from Zambia, said the youth from Malawi and other Sadc member states want quick action to be taken on climate change issues.
