The Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) has appointed auditors Bradley and Teely for the first time, aiming to enhance stakeholder confidence.
Nam General Secretary, Yamikani Khunga-Kauma, said the decision was made during an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) last week.
“We invited expressions of interest for external audit services, receiving bids from five firms. At the EGM, members endorsed the appointment of Bradley and Teely as our external auditors,” Kauma said.
Bradley and Teely are well-versed in netball auditing, having recently audited accounts for the Blantyre District Netball Committee.
Kauma cited their experience as a determining factor in their selection.
“Their track record includes auditing operations for netball bodies such as the Blantyre and Districts Rainbow League and Lilongwe Urban Netball Committee,” she added.
Kauma also emphasised Nam’s commitment to restoring public trust through transparency and accountability, essential for securing government funding and corporate sponsorships.
“The appointment of auditors underscores our dedication to corporate governance. It ensures that every Tambala is meticulously accounted for, preventing misuse,” she said.
Netball analyst Dalitso Chinyama endorsed the move.
“The new leadership’s decision to appoint auditors is crucial for gaining trust with public funds. Auditors will play a vital role in ensuring funds are used as intended, without any misuse,” Chinyama said.
