Dear BMW,
I need your help BMW. My mother has been single for some years now and has now started dating a new man. You see, my mother had me at a very young age, so we don’t differ as much in age. This also makes us very close, because I feel like she is as much my sister as she is my mother.
So, a few days ago she asked me to meet this new man in her life, to assess him and tell her what I think about him. To my dismay, when I met this man I instantly knew him, as a remembered having a brief intimate relationship with him a few years ago.
He is my mother’s age, so he isn’t too old for me, I am not in love with him, but the day we met the old flames were rekindled in me. I remembered the good times we had. I don’t know if he feels the same, but I don’t want to tell my mother about the past because I know she likes him a lot. At the same time, I have this fire inside me that wants him again, please help me.
Patricia,
Blantyre
Patricia my sister, BMW understands the turmoil you are going through, caused by your past ‘hot fling’ reappearing in your life when you thought you had managed to let go of the good times.
In fact, even in my married times I have met women I have dated and those that I had a short flings with. I have felt what you are feeling now, so don’t worry, BMW understands your situation.
My advice to you Pat, if I may call you that, is that you be honest with your mother about the past you had with this gentleman. You are not guilty of anything, you were with this man before he met your mother.
Let your mother hear you out, it will be worse if she hears it from the man when you are her daughter who she cares most about.
Be honest with her and tell her how you feel about him, if your mother understands, she will let him go.
But my dear Patricia, be sure not to allow any man come between you and your mother, even your sister or cousin, it is not worth losing your family over a man that can be replaced.
Ndanenatu,
BMW.
