The Supreme Court of Appeal has ruled that Leston Mulli’s companies, Sunrise Pharmaceuticals and Chombe Food Products, must repay K3 billion to the government within 30 days.
The court’s decision, delivered in Blantyre, also orders the two companies to pay the costs incurred throughout the entire legal process.

The case dates back to 20th July, 2011, when the companies claimed to have suffered losses worth K3 billion due to demonstrations.
The government paid the compensation, but Attorney General Thabo Chakaka-Nyirenda took the matter to the Supreme Court of Appeal, which has now ruled in favor of the government.
The court’s ruling requires the companies to repay the K3 billion within 30 days, along with covering the costs of the legal proceedings.
