Mafco fall in Castel Cup

This year’s Castel Challenge Cup is steadily gathering momentum, with top flight league side Mafco exiting the competition at the round of 64.

Mafco lost to Panthers FC 5-4 on post-match penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time on Sunday.

Joseph Mbewe gave Mafco the lead in the 27th minute before Noel Sibale equalised for the non-league side.

However, the Salima-based side lost on penalties to bow out of the competition.

It was a different case for other Super League sides as they reached the round of 32.

Mighty Tigers thrashed Charcoal FC 4-0, with Kondanani Samuel, Masambiro Kalua, Precious Chiudza and Gray Msowoya scoring a goal each to help the Kau- Kau outfit to advance.

In another match involving a top tier side, Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos beat Challengers FC 3-0.

On Sunday, Castel Cup holders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets whacked Kumanda All Stars 22-1 whereas Kamuzu Barracks progressed after defeating Mikundi Youth 5-1.

Creck Sporting Club sweated to advance to the round of 32 after beating Ergo FC 3-1 on post-match penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.

Karonga United beat Chipolopolo Boyz 3-0 while Chitipa United knocked out Lube Master.
