Northern Region Netball Committee (NRNC) has been handed a timely lifeline after Kwezy Buses injected K6 million towards the body’s league.
Stakeholders wholeheartedly welcome the sponsor as the region seldom gets sponsorship.
Kwezy Buses Manager Francisco Vitsitsi said they decided to support the committee as the transportation company was celebrating seven years of existence.
“Kwezy Buses started operating in August 2017 and this is now our seventh year on the road. We recently won an award from Consumer Choice Awards Malawi as the best local transport service provider.
“To celebrate the two feats, we decided to give back to the community, hence committing K6 million towards the league,” Vitsitsi said.
Vitsitsi asked NRNC to be transparent and accountable if the body were to secure long-term sponsorship.
“Funds drawn from this package should be used for its intended purpose. This is only the start of the journey and if the committee runs the competition professionally, we will return,” she said.
NRNC Chairperson Tamara Fweta hailed Kwezy Buses for the sponsorship, saying it would go a long way in motivating teams in the region.
“We promise to be accountable and transparent to safeguard this sponsorship,” Fweta said.
The tournament will draw teams from eight districts.
Northern Region Sports Development Officer Gracian Mkandawire advised NRNC to handle the sponsorship with care.
