The European Union (EU) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing financial support for Malawi to realise development aspirations tagged for 2063.
This pledge comes as stakeholders in the labour sector convene in Lilongwe to discuss the Employment Impact Assessment, a vital tool for enhancing job creation.
Speaking to MIJ Online EU Ambassador Rune Skinnebach stressed the importance of this assessment, stating that it will provide a roadmap for creating jobs for youths, a crucial element in achieving Vision 2063.
According to Skinnebach the EU’s continued financial support will also aid in developing good policies across various areas, including governance.
Meanwhile Ralf Kruguer, ILO Chief Technical Advisor for the STRENGTHEN Project, believes the assessment will enable evidence-based decision-making for employment-related matters.
And on her part, Agnes Nyalonje, Minister of Labour, stressed that data-driven approaches are essential for monitoring job creation, a key priority for sustainable development and achieving the objectives of Malawi 2063.
