The departure of Patrick Mwaungulu and Lanjesi Nkhoma from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets left a huge void at the People’s Team.
Mwaungulu and Nkhoma were pivotal during Bullets’ 2023 magic season, when they won an unprecedented quadruple.
Attacker Chikumbutso Salima is steadily trekking in the duo’s path as he has emerged as one of Bullets’ reliable playmakers.
Salima can be described as an advanced playmaker and attacking midfielder, often operating as an inside-moving, left or right-sided forward.
He shines at producing chances for others, playing as a central midfielder in the number eight role, or even as a wide attacking midfielder on the wing. His style is characterised by agility, dribbling and the ability to play with the ball firmly on his feet.
Salima has made an impressive start to the season, helping Bullets win their first three TNM Super League matches, in the process scoring two goals.
“My desire is to help the team win the league title and other trophies,” he said.
Salima started football in Mzuzu, where he was playing in the Under-20 First Capital Bank National Youth League.
He was then poached to join Bullets Reserve and won two trophies in his first season, before winning a quadruple in his second season.
After featuring as a semi-senior player, he was fully promoted to the senior side at the start of last season and won the Airtel Top 8 cup with the club.
His dream is to play overseas.
