FCB presented the uniforms Tuesday at its headquarters in Blantyre.

The bank’s head of marketing and communications Twikale Chirwa said they enjoy being associated with the Katswiri Under-20 League because it is the icon of Malawi football.

“The Katswiri FCB Under-20 league is the backbone of Malawi football. You talk of the many names like Lanjesi Nkhoma and Patrick Mwaungulu, who are plying their trade outside the country; they are a product of this league.

“We, as FCB, are very committed to developing sports in the country,” Chirwa said.

National Youth Football Association Vice General Secretary Gomezgani Mkandawire said the uniforms would stir up competition in the league.

“You are aware that the 2024 championship was played on player- centric basis. That is how we selected the best players from the regions and came up with the best team. We expect this year’s championship to be better than [those in] last year’s race,” Mkandawire said.

Some of the beneficiaries are Agumbala (Blantyre), Mkando (Mulanje), Letico (Zomba), Mangochi United (Mangochi), Silver Strikers Youth (Lilongwe), Kabango (Salima), Kabango (Dedza), Dyeratu (Mchinji), Awemba Stars (Kasungu), Sugar Stars (Nkhotakota), Hard Knocks (Karonga), Tigers (Rumphi), MK Academy (Mzuzu) and Wasted Years Academy (Nkhata Bay).
