Creck Sporting Club Coach Joseph Kamwendo has recommended Chiukepo Msowoya and Vincent Gona to be part of his backroom staff.
The Malawi National Football Team former striker is expected to join the club as fitness and strikers’ coach whereas Gona has been earmarked for the position of goalkeepers’ trainer.
The development also comes few days after Creck hired Scorchers former coach Abel Mkandawire as Kamwendo’s assistant Creck Chairperson Muhammad Selemani confirmed that discussions with both Msowoya and Gona were at advanced stages.
“We are strengthening our technical panel following recommendations from Kamwendo.
“We are still discussing the issue with both Msowoya and Gona,” Selemani said.
The FCB Nyasa Big Bullets former striker retired from active football after he was released by Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in March 2024.
His football career that spanned over two decades, during which he was decorated with trophies.
He scored 129 league goals for three clubs namely Bullets, Wanderers and defunct Escom United.
Msowoya is third on the list of Flames all-time goal scorers with 23 goals in 90 matches.
Msowoya also confirmed that he was on the verge of joining Creck.
“We are still discussing terms but I am happy that Creck have shown trust in me,” Msowoya said.
On the other hand, Gona, who was Bullets goalkeepers’ trainer for two years, left the People’s Team after the departure of Zimbabwean coach Kalisto Pasuwa.
Newly appointed coach Peter Mponda has reportedly opted for Flames goalkeepers’ trainer Victor Mphande after the pair worked together at Silver Strikers last season.
Meanwhile, Creck are interested in signing Mzuzu City Hammers striker Isaack Msiska.
Selemani confirmed that Msiska was one of their targets in the ongoing player transfer window.
Last season, Creck finished on position six in their maiden season.
This means they qualified for Airtel Top 8, which is expected to start in March this year.
