Champion Stadium owner King Msayiwale Kabvina has put the Mponela-based 15,000-seater facility up for sale.
The development comes after the facility hosted a friendly match involving Super League sides Kamuzu Barracks and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on Sunday.
The match ended 2-1 in favour of the soldiers.
Kabvina said he, as a businessman, had completed the crucial part of the project.
“It will be up to the buyers to pick up the projects that are underway. But at the moment I cannot disclose how much went into the project and the asking price,” Kabvina said.
Kabvina said he was not in debt but wanted to embark on a new venture.
Meanwhile, Football Legends Association (FLA) is impressed with Champion Stadium’s preparedness to host the international friendly match between South Africa’s Bafana Bafana legends and Malawi legends.
The highly anticipated clash is scheduled for September 6 at Champion Stadium.
FLA Vice Board Chairperson Justin Saidi said this when the body toured the facility Sunday.
“The owner has tried his best to keep the facility in good shape all the time. So far, we are very impressed with what we have seen,” Saidi, who was accompanied by football legends Peterkins Kayira and Chancy Gondwe, said.
However, Saidi the body would discuss with the owner on which areas needed improvement before the match.
“There are few areas that he needs to touch on in readiness for the big match but we are confident that, by September, all shortcomings would be addressed,” he said.
Champion Stadium will contribute K30 million towards organisation of the international match after signing a memorandum of understanding with FLA.
Management has already purchased 15,000 chairs to be fixed at the stadium soon.
