FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has condemned violence that ensued as the side faced Silver Strikers in the TNM Super League at Kamuzu Stadium, a match in which the holders lost 1 nil last Sunday.
The violence by purported Bullets fans started a minutes after the Bankers scored at the stroke of full time through Chinsinsi Maonga.
The Bullets fans then pelted various items into the field of play marking the match into a pause after five minutes were added. Efforts by the supporters lead and an evident one by Bullets deputy coach Fischer Kondowe did not yield any change.
After consultations the referee Kesten Mnenula blew for full time meaning that the home side had last.
At the end, it was discovered that Silver’s bus was damaged, with Bullets now in statement indicating it will meet the costs of repair.
A statement by the club has strenuously condemned the act.
Meanwhile, the Super League of Malawi has said in a statement that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against those responsible in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.
“The stoning incident is unacceptable and goes against the spirit of sportsmanship and the values that we uphold in the league. We would like to assure all stakeholders, including players, fans and officials that the Super League of Malawi will not tolerate such behavior,’’ reads a Sulom statement.
