Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)-based defender Chimwemwe Madise has joined Malawi Women’s National Football Team camp in South Africa.
The Scorchers are in Johannesburg, South Africa, for two friendly matches against Banyana Banyana tomorrow and Tuesday.
Madise was the second foreign country-based player to join camp after Georgia-based striker Sabina Thom.
The TP Mazembe defender took part in the first training session at UJ Auckland Park Thursday.

The arrival of Madise was a big boost to Scorchers coach Lovemore Fazili, who will be without captain Tabitha Chawinga, Temwa Chawinga and Rose Kabzere for the matches due to logistical challenges.
In a related development, the Kazakhstan-based duo of defender Bernadettar Mkandawire and Vanessa Chikupira was expected to join Scorchers camp yesterday.
Before the team’s departure on Wednesday, Fazili said the matches would enable him to assess the players.
“Coordination is good in our camp. I am also happy that the local players are doing well,” he said.
Malawi and South Africa last met during the 2023 Cosafa Women’s Championship in which the Scorchers won 4-3 at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria, in South Africa.
South Africa are preparing for the delayed 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) finals slated for July 5 to 26 in Morocco.
The Scorchers, on the other hand, are using the match to prepare for their second-round Wafcon qualifier against Angola in October this year.
Malawi advanced to the second round without kicking the ball after Congo Brazzaville pulled out due to lack of preparations.
The team played two friendly matches against Zambia in March this year.
Malawi lost 2-0 in the first match but beat the Copper Queens 3-2 in the second match.
