The Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) says it expects to construct 250,000 housing units in the country.
This comes after MHC and Al-Bader International Development Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a housing construction project under the Malawi 2063 development agenda.
The Government of Malawi challenged MHC to facilitate the construction of 250,000 housing units over the next 10 years.
In an interview with MIJ Online, MHC Board Chairperson Reverend Jareck Kachipanda, emphasized the need for sufficient housing due to population growth and urbanization.
Kachipanda also highlighted that the MoU will facilitate progress in the project once the final agreement is signed.
Abdelazeem D. Abd El Rahim, Senior Advisor to the Chairman of Al-Bader International Development, commented that the MoU symbolizes their commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of Malawi.
