Preparations for this year’s Umthetho Cultural Festival have been given a massive boost with Mzimba Ngoni King Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V announcing that King of the Zulu Nation in South Africa, MisuZulu, will attend.
The festival will reach its climax on August 3 at Hora Heritage Centre in Mzimba District, with other activities starting on July 31.
Announcing the news on his Facebook page yesterday, Mzimba Ngoni King Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V said his kingdom is looking forward to MisuZulu’s visit.
“We are excited to announce that His Majesty MisuZulu Ka Zwelithini, King of the Zulu Nation will grace this year’s Umthetho Cultural Festival.
“His Majesty MisuZulu will be accompanied by Amakhosi, Izinduna, members of the Royal Family and senior Government officials,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
M’mbelwa further said that the visit by the King will not only be historical but it will also strengthen their longstanding ties as people of the two Kingdoms.
“We look forward to this great day when we will be hosting His Majesty the King of the Zulu Nation,” he said.
Mzimba Heritage Association Secretary General Kingsley Jere said the visit will be a great milestone in relations between people of the two kingdoms as it will be the first time for a Zulu King to visit the district.
“This is something that has never happened at any time in the history of our kingdom. We will cherish this visit for many years to come.
“We expect the Zulu Nation King to bring a big entourage with various interests in sectors such as mining and tourism. This will therefore be a great opportunity for local businesses to come and exploit the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Jere said. He said there are many other guests from outside the country who have also committed to attend the Ngoni festival which takes place every year in August.
