Malawian winger Yamikani Chester has joined Mozambican side Uniao Desportivo do Songo on a one-year contract, with an option to extend.
The former Mighty Wanderers winger moved to the Tete-based as a free agent after leaving another Mozambican team Costa do Sol at the end of last season.
In an interview Friday, Chester said he was excited with the move to Songo hoping he would advance his football career.
“It feels great to join Songo which is one of the biggest clubs here in Mozambique. It is a dream come true for me,” Chester said.
The on-and-off Flames winger said he opted for Songo to win more trophies.
“It was an easy decision for me. I believe I can win more trophies with the club,” Chester said.
Chester had a good season with Costa having scored six goals in the league.
Additionally, he won four man-of-the-match awards.
Chester has reunited with compatriot striker Richard Mbulu, who completed his move to Songo from Costa in January this year.
The pair played together at Costa for two seasons.
Currently, Costa have two Malawian players namely striker Lloyd Njaliwa and midfielder Chikoti Chirwa.
While Chester has moved to Songo, Flames captain John Banda parted ways with the club on mutual agreement last season.
Banda played for Songo and helped them win the 2022 Mocambola League title.
Another Malawian defender Miracle Gabeya also left Songo following the expiry of his one year contract.
