Isaiah Sunganimoyo, a well-known social commentator affiliated with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), has gained attention for his strong criticism of certain individuals in both the party and government. He has been featured in WhatsApp videos that have garnered widespread attention.
Sunganimoyo has strongly condemned Vice President Usi’s utilization of government assets, specifically denouncing the large motorcade used to distribute what he views as inadequate financial aid to the impoverished.
He argued that such actions are a waste of taxpayer money and do not effectively address the needs of the vulnerable population.
He further agreed with the statement made by the late Sidik Mia that Michael Usi, also known as Manganya, is a comedian and therefore should not be taken seriously.
It is also disheartening that Manganya has been observed dancing during events where he should have acted more formally as the Vice President.
Sunganimoyo also disagreed with the Secretary General of the MCP, Richard Chimwendo Banda, for harbouring grudges against party members who challenged him during the last party convention.
He believes that this behaviour undermines party unity and progress.
Additionally, he has called out Banda as the Minister of Local Government for failing to promote Chewa chiefs, suggesting that this neglect reflects poorly on the party’s commitment to inclusivity and representation.
Furthermore, Sunganimoyo has criticized MCP spokesperson, Kabwira, for her comments regarding the health of former President Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
He argues that such remarks are inappropriate and detract from the dignity of political discourse, urging party members to focus on constructive dialogue rather than personal attacks.
Sunganimoyo advised Kabwira that she should focus on internal party affairs instead of attempting to resolve issues within other political parties.
According to him, if the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) chooses to have their leader APM, who is rumored to be elderly and unwell, as their candidate, it would benefit the Malawi Congress Party’s (MCP) torchbearer Lazarus Chakwera.
In conclusion, through these statements, Sunganimoyo highlights issues of governance, party dynamics, and the importance of respectful political engagement, calling for a more responsible and inclusive approach within the MCP and the broader political landscape in Malawi.
