Emerging striker Emmanuel Saviel Junior has expressed delight at becoming the first Malawian to join one of Zambia’s most decorated club, Mufulira Wanderers.
The wonder-kid signed a three-year contract with Wanderers from Malawi champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on Saturday.
“I am thrilled to join the Mighty Mufulira Wanderers. It is an honour to be part of Zambia’s most decorated club. I will proudly represent Malawi throughout my career here,” Saviel said, as quoted on www.Amagoal.com/Zambia.
Saviel joins Wanderers following an impressive loan spell at Civil Service United in Lilongwe, where he scored seven goals in 11 TNM Super League matches.
According to the Bullets’ website, Saviel was a standout player for their Reserve Side after joining from Uwe Kicks in 2020.
The website noted that he scored 96 goals for the reserve side over two seasons before being loaned out to Bangwe All Stars last year and Civil this year.
During his time with the Bullets’ Reserve Side, he helped the team reach the 2022 FDH Bank Cup final, where they lost 3-1 to the senior side.
Sports analyst Parry Chinyama believes the young striker will continue to shine in Zambia.
“He is a very talented player. I am confident he will settle in quickly in Zambia,” Chinyama said.
The Malawi Under-20 National Football Team striker impressed during the Four Nations Tournament held at Silver Stadium earlier this year.
In recent years, Malawian players have made significant strides in Zambia.
Flames striker Chawanangwa Kaonga and midfielder Robert Saizi play for Zanaco while Chifundo Mphasi is with Kabwe Warriors.
Peter Banda recently signed for Red Arrows, who are set to face Bullets in the Caf Champions League.
