Premier Bet pumps K7.5 million into Malawi Sport Awards

By Llywellenie Mpasa:

Premier Bet has partnered the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) by contributing K7.5 million to the Malawi Sport Awards, set to take place on February 28 in Mangochi.

Premier Bet Community Manager Hamza Mgaye said the sponsorship reflected the company’s dedication to supporting the growth of sports in Malawi.

“Supporting the Malawi Sport Awards is one way of acknowledging the immense talent and dedication within the sports fraternity,” Mgaye said.

Mgaye said the partnership represents a significant step toward promoting excellence in sports and demonstrates the transformative role corporate support plays in recognising and rewarding talent.

“We, as a sports-oriented business, believe in empowering the communities we work with,” he said.

The Malawi Sport Awards are an annual event aimed at recognising, celebrating and rewarding outstanding achievements by athletes, coaches, officials, teams, journalists and organisations that have significantly contributed to the development and promotion of sports in the country over the past year.

MNCS Director of Marketing Infrastructure and Development Limbani Matola thanked Premier Bet for the contribution.

“The resource injection from Premier Bet will go a long way in helping us organise the Malawi Sport Awards,” Matola said.

Matola said more than 42 sports associations across the country participated in the nomination process, with the top three individuals in each of the 13 categories identified and presented to the public for voting.

The winners of the Malawi Sport Awards would also compete in regional Zone V competitions in the Southern African Development Community region.

The 2024 edition, themed ‘Promoting Sport Excellence’, promises to be a prestigious occasion, celebrating individuals and entities that have raised the standards of sports in Malawi.
