Peter Banda in Kenya for surgery

Peter Banda in Kenya for surgery

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets playmaker Peter Banda can now afford a smile after he arrived in Kenya to undergo shoulder surgery.

The injury has haunted his career for almost two years.

Banda, who returned to the People’s Team on October 24 last year, was expected to have been treated by now but he faced booking challenges for the surgery.

The Flames on and off attacker said he was relieved to fly out to Kenya for treatment.

“I want to sincerely thank my team FCB Nyasa Big Bullets for doing everything possible for this trip and the surgery which I will undergo on Wednesday.

“I hope for the better to heal and return to the pitch to showcase what I love most,” Banda, who was seen off by his mother at Chileka International Airport in Blantyre on Sunday, said.

Bullets acting Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga confirmed the development, saying they were hopeful the surgery would be a success.

“We are very happy for him we wish him all the best and a successful surgery so that he returns to the pitch soon,” he said

Banda, who signed a three-year deal with Bullets, is expected back home on January 18.

According to Wikipedia, the injury is also known as Rotator cuff tear.

“It is an injury to the muscles and tendons that stabilizes the shoulder joint. It causes pain and weakness and affects how much you can move your shoulder or use your arm,” it read.

Banda recently returned home from Zambia after Red Arrows decided against signing the player when they discovered the injury.
