Malawi Union of Academic and Non- Fiction Authors (Muana) continues running training programmes aimed at building the creative sector with the latest being Research for Book Writing Development at Dedza Mountain View Lodge.
Muana chairperson Ron Muphuwa said on Thursday that the training which starts on Saturday and ends on Sunday, gives an opportunity to writers and other creatives to network with research gurus, seasoned book developers, book publishers and get awarded a beautiful certificate.
“We are targeting 30 members and other than horning their skills, it aims at preparing our members to be ready to write boons that reflect Malawians’ aspirations in line with the Agenda 2063,” Muphuwa said.
He said the training that will be facilitated by Professor Boniface Dulani will tackle topics such as research fundamentals, the local and global book writing landscape, integrating research results into book development, integrating the 2063 agenda into books and partnerships, collaborations and solutions based authorship.
“We will continue to hold these trainings because they are part of capacity building as well. You may also be aware that the Malawi government will be implementing a new curriculum for primary, secondary and college education, so it is important for us as Muana members to be ahead of the writers’ community,” Muphuwa said.
He called for support for the creative sector in the country saying apart from providing entertainment, art remains vital in helping tackle issues affecting society and bring about change.
